New Zealand Inline Hockey Association (NZIHA)

Inline Hockey (previously known as Roller Hockey), involves speed and skill - an exciting sport for both players and spectators. In some countries such as the USA, there are professional league competitions and players who NZ Inline Hockeyreceive full sponsorship from equipment suppliers.

 

The New Zealand Inline Hockey Association was incorporated in 1995 and is affiliated to national and international bodies governing the sport. The association provides national and inter regional competition on an annual basis and competes internationally. New Zealand representative teams have competed in Europe, USA, Canada and Australia, with some success. The New Zealand Senior Men’s team were awarded with silver medals at world championships held in Germany in Division 1, 2007 and have also received silver and bronze medals at AAU Junior Olympics ( 2005, 2008 and 2010) when competing in the 18 & Under Junior Men and women division.

Inline Hockey clubs around New Zealand welcome new faces. All ages and abilities are catered for with many clubs having teams for all levels. There are social grades for those just wanting to have some fun along with age-based grades for those competing in regional and national league competition. Inline hockey attracts families and caters to single and mixed gender teams. Clubs have also developed in house school leagues catering for primary, intermediate and high school teams.

Like any volunteer dependant organisation, Inline Hockey requires a dedicated following of passionate people. As well as players, involved parents, team managers, coaches, tournament officials and helpers are welcomed into our clubs around New Zealand.
