Oceania Championships Commence

Oceania Championships commenced today with a Powhiri officially welcoming our international visitors to New Zealand.

The Powhiri was held at the Owae Marae, Waitara and attended by all athletes. Howie Tamati, CEO, Sport Taranaki spoke for both teams and provided guidance to team officials throughout the ceremony.

The first game got underway at 8.30pm at the New Plymouth Rollersports arena with a packed stadium.

The 21 & Under teams from New Zealand and Australia provided a thrilling game opener with a tight action packed game finishing the game with a 4-1 win to the Kiwis.

The Royal Roller Sports team from India will now arrive in New Zealand Sunday and commence playing from game number 22.
