COVID-19 Update - 22/11/2021
Posted November 23, 2021
IHNZ News
Hi all,
Following on from last week’s update, mandatory vaccination has now been recommended for all sports. This is expected to cover volunteers, coaches, officials and all participants and spectators aged 12+ at community sports and club activities.
Vaccine Passes will be required for entry for club activity, public events and competitions (higher risk settings). There are some within the community who cannot be vaccinated and to ensure we don’t fail in our duty of care, we need to minimise any exposure within our environment to Covid-19. Health & Safety laws effectively require vaccination to be considered a condition of entry to venues, club and community sports activities.
A policy for mandatory vaccinations is being developed to ensure community and club sport can re start under the Covid Protection Framework (Traffic Light System).
More details are due to be released on this system in the coming days. Specifically this will give guidance on what we as sporting event managers will be required to implement, to host and run events within the orange and green levels as well as indicate what level attendees must be at.
We will get further information to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, it would be beneficial to consider how this will impact club operation and activities.
Please note there will be further changes to the system once the government has released their vaccination schedule for those aged 5 to 11 years.
Todays government announcements indicated that the whole country will move to the traffic light framework at 11.59pm Thursday 2 December. Until then all of New Zealand will remain at their current levels.
In the meantime we will continue to work with Sport NZ and other agencies to ensure we keep you updated as more information comes to hand. The board will meet after the government announcement next Monday 29 November with a further update for all.

Stay safe all,
