COVID-19 Update - 30/11/2021

IHNZ News
Today’s government announcements indicated that the whole country will move to the new Covid Protection Framework (Traffic Light System) at 11.59pm Thursday 2 December. Until then all of New Zealand will remain at their current levels.
Under the new Traffic Light System New Zealand will look as follows.
This will be reviewed on Monday 13 December in which the government will provide the next update. That update will stay in effect until Monday 17 January 2022.
With this announcement by the Government and the fact the event would need to be held under Red conditions and due to this, the board has reluctantly made the decision to cancel the event.
The main reason for this decision today is to give clarity now to those who have accommodation, flight and ferry bookings as well as those who are tentatively booked holidays from their workplace. To wait until the next government update on 13 December is simply too late and will cause financial issues for a number of members. Nationals 2022 will be held in October 2022 in Hamilton as agreed at the AGM earlier this year. We will endeavour to hold this event and make it a celebration to enjoy including the holding of the planned Exhibition game.
For those who ordered 25th Anniversary clothing, we will undertake to sort through this over the following weeks and get this distributed to members and/or clubs where possible. There is a large amount of clothing to go through so your patience is appreciated.
There are a number of Covid-19 resources added to the IHNZ website for clubs and members. You can view these on our COVID-19 Resources page.
We appreciate everyone’s patience to get to this point and acknowledge the disappointment this decision will mean. We fully understand what this event means to our clubs and players and to accommodate this we developed alternate plans to exhaust every avenue to try and run the event. Unfortunately due to Covid, the circumstances are now beyond our control but we encourage everyone to look forward to a more successful 2022.
