COVID-19 Update

The Auckland region (from Wellsford in the north, to Pukekohe in the south) is currently in Alert Level 3 restrictions for the next three days. The rest of the country will be in Alert Level 2 until midnight Friday.

The Stingrays Junior Tournament being held over this coming weekend in Kerikeri has been postponed with a new date to be advised as soon as possible.

IHNZ expect over the next couple of days to have a clearer indication of how things will track and what this means for Inline Hockey and potentially our Nationals and InterRegionals events.

IHNZ have had a contingency plan since the first lockdown which was shared with all Club Presidents in which if these events were cancelled, IHNZ would look to rolling them over to 2021 with the New Plymouth (Nationals) and Stingrays clubs (InterRegionals) remaining as the host venue.

Furthermore if lockdown restrictions remained, the Nationals competition time frame could be used  by each of the 4 Regional committees  to arrange a competition across age grades and teams at a suitable venue in their area within the mass gathering guidelines of the alert level they are operating within.

Again, this is early days and once we know more we can move forward with our contingency plans.

Below are links to Alert Tables for both level 2 and level 3 as a reminder to all.

IHNZ asks that all clubs follow the Ministry of Health guidelines and promote good hygiene practices at their venue. We remind all that it is the clubs responsibility to identify and manage emerging risks brought on by COVID-19.

This includes:

  • social distancing, hand wash hygiene, sneezing etiquette, elbow bumping and routine cleaning
  • the maintenance of an attendance log at their venue to include all traceability information such as date, time, name of person, contact details.  This document must cover players and any parent/guardian who have attended the session.

Remember the message that if you are feeling unwell to not attend training or games.

We encourage everyone to please remain vigilant, be safe and stay well.

As usual, any questions or queries please forward to gm@inlinehockeynz.org.nz

Stay safe all,  let’s be the best people we can be and support each other through this.

Regards

IHNZ Board
