Trials for IIHF

Event Information

IHNZ are pleased to announce that Gary Young has been appointed to the New Zealand Senior Men IIHF team. Gary comes with huge amount of experience as a NZ Representative player and has been involved in coaching a variety of teams over the years.

The IIHF competition involves a qualifying tournament which the IHNZ has applied to host in New Plymouth June this year. Dependent on that, the team will then be eligible to compete at the Worlds championship in Europe 2019.

The first open training camp is to be held in New Plymouth on the 17/18 February 2018.  All Senior players are welcome to attend this weekend trial. There will be a trial squad meeting at 12.00 pm where all expectations and outcomes will be clearly explained. If you wish to be part of this team there is the requirement to attend all training camps of which there is at least four. Personal fitness, training and well-being such as dietary regimes will be set. We hope to include an expert qualified person to assist in this area.

Dispensations can be applied for, but only in extenuating circumstances will they be granted. Commitment is key.

Following the squad meeting a Beep Test will be held. 3 rink sessions on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. We finish up around 2.00 pm Sunday for the Weekend. Trial fee is $60 and must be paid by the last session on the Saturday the 17th February. You also must not owe any money to IHNZ to be eligible to attend this trial.

Final named Squad will be released after the second camp in New Plymouth 17/18th March.

Dispensation requests can be emailed to boardmember4@inlinehockeynz.org.nz

Regards Pete Shields,
IIHF New Zealand Coordinator.
